Job summary

Fishbeck in Grand Rapids, MI, invites you to join as a Transportation Engineering Intern for Summer 2027. You will assist in designing roads, bridges, and other civil infrastructure for DOT under the Transportation team.

The role focuses on producing design drawings with AutoCAD and OpenRoads Designer and supporting engineers with calculations and documentation. Ideal candidates are currently enrolled in a Civil Engineering program, eager to learn, with strong communication and organization

• Currently enrolled in an accredited Civil Engineering program.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD or OpenRoads Designer is a plus.

Location: Regional Michigan Offices

Employment Type: Full-Time Internship

Working with our Transportation team, you will assist in the design of bridges, roads, and other civil projects for the DOT.

What You’ll Do

• Assist in designing roads, bridges, and civil infrastructure for DOT and municipal clients.
• Create design drawings using AutoCAD and OpenRoads Designer.
• Support engineers with calculations and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams across offices.
• Participate in solving real engineering challenges and managing project deliverables.

What We’re Looking For

• Currently enrolled in an accredited Civil Engineering program.
• Eager to learn and contribute to meaningful projects.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD or OpenRoads Designer is a plus.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Previous internship or DOT project experience is helpful but not required.
