Job summary

Fishbeck, Thompson, Carr & Huber is seeking a Transportation Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 in Grand Rapids, MI. You will assist in designing roads, bridges, and civil infrastructure for the DOT and municipal clients, and create drawings using AutoCAD and OpenRoads Designer.

You will support engineers with calculations and documentation, collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams across offices, and help manage project deliverables while gaining real engineering experience.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited Civil Engineering program.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD or OpenRoads Designer is a plus.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Previous internship or DOT project experience is helpful but not required.

Location: Regional Michigan Offices

Full-Time Internship

Working with our Transportation team, you will assist in the design of bridges, roads, and other civil projects for the DOT.

What You'll Do
