Job summary

Baxter & Woodman is seeking a Transportation Engineering Intern to join our Bannockburn, O'Hare, Crystal Lake, Naperville, or Mokena offices. You will gain on-the-job experience supporting the transportation design team with planning and design of facilities.

This paid internship offers CAD tasks, plan review, traffic analysis, data collection, survey work, and construction inspection, with a May 2027 start. Travel within the service area and teamwork are emphasized.

Qualifications

• Ongoing pursuit of a 4-year degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Transportation Engineering.
• Available to start May 2027.
• Ability to travel throughout Baxter & Woodman’s service area (own transportation).
• Work in a team environment.
• Strong written, verbal, computer, and organizational skills.

This on-the-job experience will support the firm’s transportation department with the planning and design of a variety of transportation facilities and offer the opportunity to work within a transportation design team.

Compensation

The hourly pay for this role is $23.00. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, and certifications.
