Job summary

Baxter & Woodman invites a Transportation Engineering Intern to join our Peoria Heights, IL office. You will assist in planning and design of transportation facilities, working within a transportation design team on real projects.

The role emphasizes CAD, data collection, field surveys, and traffic analysis, with a May 2027 start. Ongoing Civil Engineering study required, travel within our service area, and strong communication skills are essential.

• Pursuing a 4-year Civil Engineering degree with an emphasis in Transportation Engineering.
• Available to start May 2027.
• Ability to travel throughout Baxter & Woodman’s service area (own transportation).
• Strong written, verbal, computer, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan Review and plan preparation tasks.
• Utilize CAD for transportation projects.
• Compute quantities and perform traffic analyses.

This on-the-job experience will support the firm’s transportation department with the planning and design of a variety of transportation facilities and offer the opportunity to work within a transportation design team.

Compensation -The hourly pay for this role is $23.00. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, and certifications.
