Job summary

Baxter & Woodman is seeking an entry-level Transportation Engineer I to join our Bannockburn, O’Hare, Crystal Lake, Naperville, or Mokena offices. The role centers on design and construction engineering for transportation projects at the state, county, and local levels, working in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.

You will gain hands-on experience with OpenRoads Designer or Civil 3D, conduct drainage and traffic studies, prepare plans and specifications, and assist in Federal Aid

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Civil Engineering required.
• Ability to travel across service area with own transportation.
• Strong written, verbal, and organizational skills.
• Work within a team-first culture that encourages development.

Responsibilities

• Design roadway, underground utility, and infrastructure improvements using Bentley OpenRoads Designer or Civil 3D.
• Conduct drainage, traffic, and various engineering studies.
• Complete general civil engineering services for municipal, county and state clients.
• Complete engineering plans and specifications using IDOT Standards.
• Process Federal Aid Phase I and II projects for a variety of clients.
• Assist with construction engineering services for municipal, county and state clients.
• Assist project engineers and managers with a wide variety of tasks required for project delivery.

About the role, Your Impact

Baxter & Woodman has a rewarding opportunity for an entry-level Transportation Engineer in our Bannockburn, Chicago O’Hare, Crystal Lake, Naperville, or Mokena, IL office. This position will primarily consist of design and construction engineering efforts on a variety of transportation projects for State, County, and Local Agencies. This team-orientated position will include working with Baxter & Woodman’s diverse disciplines and offices.

Preferred Qualifications

• Relevant internship/co-op experience with municipal or highway agency transportation projects.
• Anticipated F.E. (Fundamentals of Engineering) certification.
• Knowledge of designing roadway and underground improvements with Civil3D or Bentley OpenRoads Designer.
• Experience with Geopak.

Compensation

The pay range for this role is $74,000 to $77,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, and certifications.
