Job summary
Volkert Inc. is seeking an experienced Transportation Engineer in Training to join our Gulf Region team, supporting Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee.
The role requires a BS in Civil Engineering and an EIT certification, with 2–4 years of experience in traffic or roadway design. You will collect and analyze data for project plans, assist with traffic studies, prepare design plans using OpenRoads Designer, and contribute to cost estimates and schedules while meeting client needs and safety
Qualifications
- BS in Civil Engineering is required.
- EIT (E.I.) Certification is required.
- 2-4 years of experience in traffic or roadway design.
- Familiarity with DOT design standards, MUTCD, and AASHTO.
- Self-starter with strong written and oral communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Collect and analyze data for project plans, technical reports, and studies.
- Assist with traffic impact studies, access requests, safety studies, and multimodal planning.
- Prepare roadway design plans using OpenRoads Designer.
- Work on traffic signal design plans and TMPs.
- Assist in preparing project quantities, cost estimates, specs, and schedules.
- Review calculations and drawings for compliance with requirements.
- Attend project meetings with clients.
