Job summary

Texas Department of Transportation is seeking Transportation Engineer II/III to advance design, construction, and traffic operations within the Digital Delivery Program. The role involves on-site engineering reviews, complex design tasks, and coordination with project managers to maintain schedules and quality standards.

Ideal candidates bring a bachelor's in engineering, 5–6 years of relevant experience, a valid Texas PE license or eligibility, and a Safety Impact certification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related science.
• 5 years engineering/transportation engineering experience; substitutions allowed for related graduate education.
• Valid driver's license; ability to drive a state vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Assist with development of processes, procedures, and pilots for design, construction, hydraulics, environmental, bridge, traffic, letting, etc. for TxDOT's Digital Delivery Program.
• Develops, recommends, and implements modifications as necessary for continual improvement to existing program of responsibility.
• Performs complex engineering design work such as development of layouts, sketches, plans, specifications, estimates and contracts.
• Assists project managers to establish realistic and achievable schedule baselines.
• Assists with design, computer operations and plan preparation.
• Interprets the Utility Accommodation Policy.
• Performs and/or documents in-house research studies.
• Provides technical expertise in planning, coordinating, maintaining and operating traffic management systems TxDOT's transportation system.
