Under the guidance of the Chief, Office of California Transportation Commission Liaison, a Supervising Transportation Engineer, and the Senior Transportation Electrical Engineer work lead, the incumbent performs engineering and project development tasks related to the Division’s interactive electronic systems. The role involves supporting maintenance, enhancement, and modernization of two critical applications: VIPER (Vote Initiation Process with Electronic Records) and CTIPS (California Transportation Improvement Program System). CTIPS manages programming documents for transportation projects; VIPER creates Vote Boxes for project allocation by the California Transportation Commission.
Candidates should review the Minimum Qualifications (MQs). If MQs are met under Pattern II and an in-person TE Electrical exam is required, do not take the online exam before passing the written hurdle, as it may affect eligibility. Position located at: 1120 N Street, Sacramento, CA.
This is a Limited Term position, potentially extendable or permanent. The Caltrans Transportation Engineer (Civil) Rotation Program involves a 24-33 month rotation for new hires after probation, providing diverse project delivery experience. Rotations last 6-12 months and may involve travel across the state. The position may be eligible for telework, with in-person attendance required as needed. Business travel expenses are the employee's responsibility.
