Job summary

Texas Department of Transportation in Wichita Falls is seeking Transportation Engineer I‑III to tackle planning, development and design, review construction plans and ensure federal/state standards compliance. You will travel to project sites and provide technical support, impacting local highway infrastructure.

The role covers analysis, contract oversight, and document review, with opportunities to advance through responsibilities for budgets, pavement and bridge projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related science as accepted by TX PELS.
• Licensed Professional Engineer; US state license or ability to obtain TX license within six months.
• Valid driver’s license required to operate a state vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes and approves modifications to highway maintenance contracts.
• Reviews program funding changes and impacts on project schedules.
• Maintains bridge inspection data and analyzes related reports.
• Oversees contracts, work orders, schedules and payments on construction projects.
• Develops or reviews engineering documents, correspondence and remediation plans.
• Travels to project sites for on‑site reviews and technical support.
• Ensures compliance with National Bridge Inspection Standards.
• Reviews PS&E submissions, special specs and provisions.
