Job summary

Texas Department of Transportation in Brownwood is seeking Transportation Engineer I–IV for Brownwood Operations. You will work on highway maintenance, roadway operations, traffic management, asset preservation and system performance.

This role offers the opportunity to analyze roadway conditions, develop maintenance strategies, support incident response, and participate in long-term infrastructure planning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related science bachelor’s or higher degree accepted by TX PELS.
• TE I: 4 years engineering, transportation engineering, or related engineering experience
• TE II: 5 years engineering, transportation engineering, or related engineering experience
• TE III: 6 years engineering, transportation engineering, or related engineering experience
• TE IV: 7 years engineering, transportation engineering, or related engineering experience
• Licensed Professional Engineer
• Valid driver’s license

Responsibilities

• Performs transportation engineering work in planning, project development and design, construction, transportation/traffic operations and/or maintenance.
• Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines.
• Interprets maintenance standards, rules, methods, procedures, practices and policies.
• Interprets manuals and required guidelines for traffic operations.
• May serve as a lead worker and the related tasks.
• Maintains pavement condition data and assists in preparing reports.
• Reviews change orders, supplementary agreements and extra work orders; reviews monthly and final estimates prior to submittal.
