Texas Department of Transportation in Houston seeks a Transportation Engineer I to join our Central Design B team on major district projects. The role combines engineering design, planning and field support with drafting, reviews and coordination with project managers.

You will contribute to layouts, plans, estimates and contracts, travel to sites, mentor staff, and help ensure compliance with federal and state standards while advancing your professional licensure journey.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering or related science.
• Experience: 4 years in engineering, transportation engineering, or related field (full-time or part-time).
• Licenses: Professional Engineer license; if not in Texas, must obtain within 6 months.
• Preferred: OpenRoads Design software experience.

Responsabilités

• Perform transportation engineering work in planning, project development and design, construction and operations.
• Assist project managers to establish schedule baselines.
• Assist with design, computer operations and plan preparation.
• Develop and review engineering documents, correspondence and remediation plans.
• Travel to project sites for on-site reviews and technical support.
• Lead or train professional and administrative staff.
• Perform design and drafting of layouts, sketches, plans and specifications.
• Provide technical drainage design assistance and hydraulics evaluations.
