Job summary

Staffmark Group in Fontana, CA is hiring a Transportation Dispatcher to coordinate daily transport operations with CDL drivers, planners, and customers to ensure safety, efficiency and on-time deliveries. The role requires strong organization and dependable performance in a fast-paced logistics environment.

The position offers an evening schedule (Sun-Thurs 9:30 pm–6 am), competitive pay, and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of dispatching/transportation/logistics or customer service experience preferred.
• Knowledge of trucking operations, route planning, and delivery procedures.
• Familiarity with DOT regulations and Hours of Service requirements preferred.
• Experience with Samsara, Paylocity, transportation management systems, or similar software preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and other office applications.

Responsibilities

• Assign drivers, equipment, and routes based on operational needs.
• Monitor deliveries, route progress, arrivals, departures, and delays.
• Communicate with drivers throughout shifts and provide route updates.
• Respond to breakdowns, accidents, delays, and customer concerns.
• Monitor Hours of Service compliance and elevate operational issues.
• Review driver availability and assist with schedule coverage.
• Verify route paperwork, BOLs, PODs, and delivery documentation.
• Document route activity, incidents, and customer communications.
• Coordinate with customers, vendors, and internal departments.
• Complete shift handoff reports and maintain accurate records.

We are seeking a Transportation Dispatcher to coordinate daily transportation operations and ensure drivers, equipment, and customer deliveries are managed safely, efficiently, and on schedule. This role works closely with CDL drivers, customers, planners, and operations teams while monitoring routes from dispatch through completion. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, and able to thrive in a fast-paced logistics environment.

Job Duties

Education Requirements

Experience Requirements

• At least 1 year of dispatching, transportation, logistics, or customer service experience preferred
• Knowledge of trucking operations, route planning, and delivery procedures
• Familiarity with DOT regulations and Hours of Service requirements preferred
• Experience with Samsara, Paylocity, transportation management systems, or similar software preferred
• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and other office applications

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous customer service, call center, retail, office support, or administrative experience is preferred.
• Experience working with CRM software, order processing systems, or customer databases is beneficial.
• Bilingual communication skills may be considered an asset depending on the position.
• Individuals who demonstrate patience, professionalism, adaptability, and excellent communication skills are well positioned for success as a Transportation Dispatcher.
• Previous clerical or administrative experience.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, with Excel proficiency required.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Comfortable handling a high volume of phone calls and administrative coordination.
• Ability to accurately enter and maintain information in spreadsheets and other systems.
• Ability to communicate effectively with Operations and Independent Carriers and provide timely updates.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while remaining professional, calm, and solution-oriented in a fast-paced environment.
• Prior experience working in the logistics, transportation, or trucking industry is highly preferred.

• Ability to remain seated or stand for extended periods while assisting customers.
• Frequent use of computers, telephones, and standard office equipment.
• Ability to communicate clearly with customers, coworkers, and business partners.
• Ability to perform repetitive keyboard and data entry tasks throughout the workday.
