Job summary

Fehr & Peers is seeking a Transportation Design Engineer to lead evaluation, selection, and design of transportation solutions for diverse communities. You will generate conceptual designs, create construction documents, and coordinate with complete streets teams while engaging clients and communities.

The role emphasizes mentorship, project management, and producing accurate PS&E packages across complete streets, bikeways, signals, signing, and lighting.

Qualifications

• 4-7 years of experience in transportation engineering.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in transportation, civil or electrical engineering, urban and regional planning, or a related major.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license, or plan to obtain.
• Experience applying MUTCD and AASHTO design standards.
• Familiarity with ODOT and local agency design standards for Oregon projects.
• Experience with signing, striping, and traffic signal plans.
• Active transportation planning and design.
• Road safety planning and design.
• Strong client communication and proposal development.

Responsibilities

• Leading and managing tasks for engineering and planning studies.
• Performing field work and supporting construction administration.
• Preparing conceptual designs that are accurate, feasible, and engaging.
• Preparing PS&E for transportation projects including complete streets and bikeways.
• Managing client interaction and community engagement.
