Job summary

Bolton & Menk, Inc. is seeking a Design Engineer, EIT, to join our Transportation team in Charlotte, NC. You will assist project managers and engineers on design and construction phase activities for transportation projects, performing calculations, draft reports, and cost estimates.

The ideal candidate has a Civil Engineering degree and is an Engineer-in- Training or able to obtain within 12 months. Travel and valid licensure are required as projects span multiple sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college.
• Certified Engineer-in-Training or able to obtain within 12 months of hire.
• Prior experience in infrastructure design and/or construction observation.
• Working knowledge of CAD and design software (AutoCAD Civil3D, MicroStation).
• Developing knowledge of traffic software (Synchro, SIMTraffic, Arcady, VISSIM) preferred.
• Frequent travel during construction season; valid driver's license required.
• Authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Engineers with design and construction phase activities on transportation projects.
• Perform basic design computations, preliminary layout and design, and prepare rough drafts.
• Assist with project plans, specs, and cost/quantity take-offs.
• Support traffic studies related to operations, safety, and access management.
• Assist with traffic control devices design including signals, signing, and ITS elements.
• Support construction observation, staking, documentation, and contractor coordination.
