Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking an experienced Alternate Delivery Design Manager to lead pursuit and delivery of Transportation design-build projects across the Midwest and beyond. You will guide teams, coordinate staff, and work with leadership to win and deliver complex assignments.

The role emphasizes collaboration, risk management, and phased project execution, with significant travel and leadership responsibilities within a 100% employee-owned firm.

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Engineering or related field from an accredited program.
• 15 years of experience preferred.
• Experience managing complex, transportation design or design-build projects.
• Experience with proposal development, project planning, budget management, scheduling, and client coordination.
• Experience working with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Demonstrated ability to lead project teams and manage multiple concurrent assignments.

Responsibilities

• Support development and execution of Transportation alternate delivery business initiatives and project goals.
• Facilitate communication and coordination among regional offices and stakeholders.
• Lead multidisciplinary project teams through pursuit and project execution activities.
• Assist with business development efforts with project owners and contractor partners.
• Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
• Develop pursuit strategy and support proposal preparation and interviews.
• Coordinate staffing and resource planning for projects.
• Manage design efforts for alternate delivery pursuits and active projects.
• Monitor budgets, schedules, deliverables, and performance metrics.
