Job summary

Burns & McDonnell, a national design-build firm, seeks a proven Design Manager for its Alternate Delivery team. You’ll lead pursuit and delivery of transportation projects, collaborating with leadership, PMs, and regional offices to win and execute design-build and other alternate delivery initiatives.

The role emphasizes leading multidisciplinary teams, risk mitigation, budgeting, and schedule adherence, with substantial BD involvement and a focus on safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Engineering or related field from an accredited program; 10 years related experience preferred.
• DBIA certification and PE licensure are valued.
• Experience managing complex transportation design or design-build projects.
• Experience with proposal development, planning, budgeting, scheduling, and client coordination.
• Proven ability to lead project teams and manage multiple concurrent assignments.

Responsibilities

• Lead pursuit and project execution for transportation alternate delivery projects.
• Coordinate with leadership on staffing, scheduling, and resources.
• Manage design efforts for alternate delivery pursuits and active projects.
• Monitor budgets, schedules, and performance metrics to meet objectives.
• Provide guidance to project managers and design professionals.
• Support business development through owner/contractor engagements.
