Job summary

HDR is seeking a Transportation Data Steward to shape how data is defined, shared, and used across HDR’s Transportation Business Group. This leadership role is embedded within the Transportation BG (not an IT role) and focuses on enabling project delivery through data clarity and reuse.

The role emphasizes collaboration with SMEs, governance, and the adoption of consistent data practices across HDR’s diverse delivery teams. In-office location nationwide; compensation reflects leadership level.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related field and 10+ years in data-centric roles.
• Minimum 10 years of leadership experience in data-driven initiatives.
• Experience in managing diverse teams and stakeholders.
• Ability to partner with leaders and operate within HDR values of quality and ownership.
• Strong commitment to HDR’s employee-owned culture and inclusion.

Responsibilities

• Establish and coordinate a network of SME expertise across the Transportation BG to define standards and align with enterprise expectations.
• Develop and maintain business-aligned data definitions to support models, reporting, automation and AI use cases.
• Leverage your technical network to build alignment around data processes, priority, and usage.
• Promote consistent, responsible use of technical data, including access, quality, format, and reuse.
• Support governance of externally sourced datasets (access, approvals, inventory, storage, lifecycle).
• Promote data fluency across the Transportation BG.
• Coordinate with the Technology Director to align data workflows with Transportation BG strategy.
• Lead change management to drive adoption of data standards, practices and tools.
• Regularly communicate with Data Stewards, Enterprise Data Science Teams, and Enterprise Data Operations staff.
• Ensure new tools in the Transportation BG align to data strategy.
