Job summary

HDR is seeking a Transportation Data Steward to define how data is captured, named, and reused across HDR’s Transportation Business Group. This leadership role emphasizes enablement over IT tasks, guiding SME collaboration and ensuring data consistency to improve project delivery and analytics.

The role enables data-driven decisions, supports automation, and aligns data practices with HDR’s enterprise standards. In-office, any HDR US office, with significant cross-team influence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience as listed.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in the Resources engineering industry.
• Experience in development and management of diverse teams.
• Ability to work cooperatively with other leaders, operations managers, technical directors and marketing managers.
• Committed to quality, improvement, HDR values.

Responsibilities

• Establish and coordinate a network of SME expertise across the Transportation Business Group to define standards and ensure alignment.
• Develop and maintain business-aligned data definitions for key terms supporting models, reporting, automation, and AI use cases.
• Use your technical network to build alignment around data processes, priority, and usage.
• Promote consistent, responsible use of technical data including access, quality, formatting, and reuse.
• Support governance of externally sourced datasets (access, approvals, inventory, storage, lifecycle).
• Promote data fluency across the Transportation Business Group.
• Coordinate with the Technology Director to align data workflows with Transportation BG strategy.
• Lead change management to drive adoption of data standards, practices, and tools across the Transportation BG.
• Regularly communicate with other Data Stewards, Enterprise Data Science Teams, and Enterprise Data Operations staff.
• Ensure new tools align to data strategy within Transportation BG.
