Job summary

HDR is seeking a Transportation Data Steward to shape how data is defined, shared, and reused across the Transportation Business Group. This leadership role focuses on enabling better decisions, data reuse, and project delivery while coordinating with experts and authorities within each domain.

Embedded in the Transportation BG rather than IT, the role emphasizes enablement, collaboration, and impact on delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, data science, business, computer science, or related discipline or equivalent related experience.
• Minimum 10 years of strategic leadership experience.
• Fifteen years of experience delivering diverse data-centric solutions and services.
• Ability to work cooperatively with other leaders, operations managers and marketing managers.

Responsibilities

• Establish and coordinate a network of SME expertise across the Transportation Business Group to define technical standards while aligning with enterprise expectations.
• Develop and maintain business-aligned data definitions for key terms supporting structured data models, reporting, automation, and AI.
• Use your technical network to build alignment and consensus around data processes, priority, and usage.
• Promote consistent, responsible use of technical data including access, quality, format, and reuse.
• Support governance of externally sourced datasets including access, inventory awareness, storage, and lifecycle considerations.
• Promote data fluency across the Transportation Business Group.
• Coordinate with the Technology Director to align data workflows with Transportation BG strategy.
• Lead change management to drive adoption of data standards, practices, and tools.
• Regularly communicate with other Data Stewards, Enterprise Data Science Teams, and Enterprise Data Operations staff.
• Ensure new tools align to data strategy within the Transportation BG.
