Job summary

Texas Department of Transportation in Mason City, TX seeks a Transportation Maintenance Crew Chief to lead a team of maintenance technicians and equipment operators, coordinating daily work and responding to emergencies.

You will supervise tasks, report to a maintenance section supervisor, and ensure safe, efficient operations while driving a state vehicle and mentoring crew members. A CDL-A is required at hire, with strong leadership and maintenance duties central to the role.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• 5+ years of roadway maintenance experience; substitutions allowed for education/experience.
• Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required at time of hire.
• Valid driver’s license (state).

Responsibilities

• Lead a crew of transportation maintenance technicians and equipment operators.
• Assign daily work and supervise crew; provide updates to supervisor.
• Assist in administration of the maintenance section and respond to emergencies as needed.
• Inspect roads and report problems; oversee equipment maintenance and training.
• Drive state vehicle and coordinate resources (labor, materials, equipment).
