Job summary

Texas Department of Transportation seeks a lead transportation maintenance technician to supervise a crew and coordinate roadway maintenance tasks. You will assist during emergencies, estimate materials, inspect routes, and manage records while ensuring safety and compliance throughout operations.

Requires a State of Texas Class A CDL within 120 days and at least five years in roadway maintenance; the role reports to a maintenance section supervisor and involves coordinating contract workers.

Qualifications

• High School Grad or Equivalent in general education.
• 5 years experience in roadway maintenance related work.
• Class A Commercial Driver's License required within 120 days of employment.
• Experience may be substituted by related college education or technical training.

Responsibilities

• Assist during accidents and emergencies to sand bridges/roads and set up warnings; coordinate crew response.
• Estimate and procure materials and equipment for assignments.
• Inspect roads en route to sites and report issues to supervisors.
• Maintain records on materials, equipment, and employee time sheets.
• Monitor materials testing and inventory; oversee contract workers and activities.
• Lead daily work assignments; provide updates to the supervisor and input on team members' development.
