Qualifications

• Minimum one year as an Engineering Technician or equivalent.
• Two years as a Transportation Technician or Construction Cost Technician.
• Three years in highway/bridge surveying, design, construction, or inspection.
• Three years in quality control of materials with reading blueprints.
• One year of construction inspection and an associated degree in civil engineering/related tech.
• Equivalent combination of experience and training.

Responsibilities

• Material Inspection: Inspect asphalt, concrete, and aggregate materials to ensure they meet specifications.
• Testing Verification: Observe technicians performing tests and confirm accuracy of procedures and results.
• Documentation Review: Record sampling methods, testing results, and compliance issues in required systems.
• Quality Assurance: Check supplier compliance with standards, verify documentation, and support annual inspections.
• Equipment Calibration: Verify calibration of equipment used by department staff and vendors.
• Field Support: Assist with core drilling, project material reviews, and sampling activities at job sites.
