Job description

CDR Maguire Inc., a national multi-disciplinary engineering firm, is seeking Transportation Construction Inspectors for construction projects in the upcoming 2025 construction season in PennDOT District 3, Williamsport, PA area.

Sponsorship or relocation is not provided for this position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Ensure compliance with the contract documents by the contractor.
2. Consult with contractors, consultants, engineers, job superintendents, and others regarding plans, specifications, materials, equipment, methods, practices, and safety precautions involved in construction and installation of the work.
3. Prepare daily progress reports and maintain progress schedules.
4. Check shop drawings and contractors' quotations for variations.
5. Maintain records of quantities and costs of materials used.
6. Prepare contractors' periodic progress payment claims and recommend payments.

OTHER PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

• Travel as required in relation to the above duties or as directed by the supervisor.
• Maintain a positive attitude to foster competence and pride in the company.
• Perform other duties as required, which are commensurate with the position.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English, and perform basic math computations related to length, area, and volume.
• Minimum of one (1) year PennDOT experience or higher, or at least two (2) years of transportation, highway, or bridge construction inspection experience.
• Four (4) years of highway or bridge construction, non-highway or bridge inspection, or highway or bridge design experience. Non-inspection personnel can substitute this experience by successfully completing the twelve (12) web-based TCI training modules.
• A Civil Engineering or Construction degree can substitute for required experience.
• A Bachelor’s of Science degree in a non-Civil Engineering field, with successful completion of the twelve (12) web-based TCI training modules, can also substitute for experience.

PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS:

• NICET Level 2 or higher in Transportation/Highway Construction
• NECEPT Bituminous Field Certification
• ACI/PennDOT Concrete Field Technician Certification
• PennDOT/PTC CDS Certification
• ECMS experience
• OSHA 10-Hour Certification
