Transportation Construction Inspector (PA Turnpike)

CDR Maguire Inc., a national multi-disciplinary engineering firm, is seeking Transportation Construction Inspectors for an upcoming multi-year Turnpike project scheduled to start in late Winter/early Spring 2025. This heavy-highway construction project involves a bridge replacement over the mainline PA Turnpike, located between the Gettysburg Pike (MP 236) and the Harrisburg West (MP 242) exits.

The Transportation Construction Inspector (TCI) will be responsible for consulting with contractors, engineers, PA Turnpike staff, and others regarding plans, specifications, materials, equipment, methods, and safety precautions. The TCI will prepare daily progress reports, maintain schedules, review contractor submissions, keep records of materials and costs, and assist with payment claims.

Note: Relocation or sponsorship is not available. Local candidates are highly desirable.

Essential Functions:

1. Ensure contractor compliance with contract documents and safety plans.
2. Verify that delivered materials conform to specifications.
3. Check contractor's layout accuracy.
4. Prepare and submit daily work reports.
5. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
6. Follow instructions and utilize office equipment and computers.
7. Perform physical activities such as bending, lifting up to 50 lbs, and wearing PPE.
8. React to hazardous signals and work in adverse weather conditions infrequently.

Other Principal Duties:

1. Travel around the Greater Harrisburg area as required.
2. Maintain a positive attitude to foster competence and pride.
3. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• High school diploma, GED, or post-secondary education; ability to read, write, communicate clearly in English, and perform basic math related to heavy highway construction.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of construction inspection experience.

Preferred Certifications and Experience include:

• Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission inspection experience.
• NICET Level 2 or higher in Transportation/Highway Construction.
• NECEPT Bituminous field certification.
• ACI/PennDOT Concrete field technician certification.
• PennDOT/PTC CDS certification.
• ECMS experience.
• OSHA 10-Hour certification.
