Job Description: Transportation Construction Inspector (TCI)

Company: CDR Maguire Inc., a national multi-disciplinary engineering firm

Location: Harrisburg/Mechanicsburg, PA (PennDOT District 8)

Position: Transportation Construction Inspector (Full-time, Associate level)

Overview: The TCI is responsible for overseeing construction activities, ensuring compliance with plans, specifications, and safety standards. The role involves preparing reports, verifying materials and layouts, and coordinating with contractors and engineers.

Essential Functions:

1. Ensure contractor compliance with contract documents and safety plans
2. Verify materials and contractor's layout accuracy
3. Prepare daily reports and progress schedules
4. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
5. Utilize computers and office equipment
6. Perform physical activities such as bending, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working in adverse weather

Additional Duties:

• Travel as required
• Maintain a positive attitude and professionalism
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

• High school diploma, GED, or higher education
• Ability to read, write, and perform basic math in English
• Construction inspection experience preferred but not required

Preferred Certifications:

• BS in Civil Engineering
• NICET Level 2 or higher in Transportation/Highway Construction
• NECEPT Bituminous certification
• ACI/PennDOT Concrete technician certification
• PennDOT/PTC CDS certification
• ECMS experience
• OSHA 10-Hour certification
