Transportation Construction Inspector (PA Turnpike)

CDR Maguire Inc., a national multi-disciplinary engineering firm, is seeking Transportation Construction Inspectors for an upcoming multi-year Turnpike project scheduled to start in late Winter/early Spring 2025. This heavy-highway construction project involves a bridge replacement over the mainline PA Turnpike, located between the Gettysburg Pike (MP 236) and the Harrisburg West (MP 242) exits.

The Transportation Construction Inspector (TCI) will consult with contractors, engineers, and PA Turnpike staff on plans, specifications, materials, equipment, methods, and safety. Responsibilities include preparing daily reports, maintaining progress schedules, reviewing contractor submissions, keeping records of materials and costs, and processing progress payments.

Relocation or sponsorship is not available; local candidates are highly preferred.

Essential Functions:

• Ensure contractor compliance with contract documents and safety plans
• Verify materials conform to specifications
• Check contractor layout accuracy
• Prepare and submit daily work reports
• Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
• Utilize computers and office equipment
• Physical requirements include bending, stretching, kneeling, sitting, standing, and lifting up to 50 lbs
• Wear personal protective equipment and react to hazards
• Occasional manual labor and work in adverse weather conditions

Other Principal Duties:

• Travel within the Greater Harrisburg area as needed
• Maintain a positive attitude and professionalism
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements:

• High school diploma, GED, or post-secondary education with ability to read, write, and perform basic math
• Minimum 3-5 years of construction inspection experience

Preferred Certifications and Experience:

• Pennsylvania Turnpike construction inspection experience
• NICET Level 2 or higher in Transportation/Highway Construction
• NECEPT Bituminous field certification
• ACI/PennDOT Concrete field technician certification
• PennDOT/PTC CDS certification
• ECMS experience
• OSHA 10-Hour certification
