Qualifications

• 1-4 years of roadway construction inspection experience required.

Transportation Construction Inspector

Currently ranked #50 on Engineering News-Record's Top 500 Design Firms, we are seeking Transportation Construction Inspection professionals to join our Central PA team. Our primary clients include the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, and other local government agencies in the Central PA region.

The successful candidate will apply standard inspection procedures to ongoing construction activities to ensure structural quality, safety, and conformance to plans, specifications, and codes. This position is not eligible for employer-based sponsorship, except for TN visa classification.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications, and construction methods for compliance with legal and safety standards
• Perform routine tests on concrete, soils, and other materials
• Measure dimensions and verify levels, alignments, and elevations of structures, fixtures, grades, and pavements
• Gather and maintain record documents
• Make field notes and perform computations

Nonessential Functions and Responsibilities

• Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Skills

• Strong computer proficiency
• Active driver's license and reliable vehicle (must pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening)

Preferred Skills

• Client-requested certifications such as NICET Level 1 or higher in Transportation/Highway Construction
• NECEPT-Bituminous and Concrete Field Technician
• ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician
• CDS NeXtGen and/or ECMS Wave 5

Required Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent (or equivalent experience)

Working Conditions

Work is performed in the field, requiring extensive bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting objects up to 25 lbs. Conditions may include heat, cold, wet, humid, and dry environments.
