Quality Engineering Solutions, Inc. (QES) is seeking all levels of Transportation Construction Inspectors to join our team. For over 25 years, QES has been committed to performing engineering and construction inspection services safely and in compliance with all regulatory and client requirements. Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Perform technical inspections to ensure contractors build quality construction projects, monitoring and documenting roadway, highway, and bridge projects in accordance with plans and specifications.
  • Conduct quality assurance monitoring for materials testing, including soils, concrete, aggregates, and bituminous products.
  • Comply with overtime requirements specified by PA Turnpike, PennDOT, and/or the client and project specifics.
  • Meet regularly with the Client's Project Engineer/Manager/Supervisor or Consultant Manager/Supervisor to receive instructions and assignments.
  • Complete project documentation, including daily progress reports, periodic cost estimates, and records of labor, materials, quantities, and equipment used.
  • Perform periodic highway occupancy permit and erosion and sedimentation controls compliance checks.
  • Request assistance from the Manager/Supervisor for instructions or assignments related to the inspection of materials and workmanship to ensure contract compliance.
Required Qualifications:
  • Two (2) years of transportation construction inspection experience and a High School Diploma.
  • Equivalent combination of experience and/or training that enables reading and interpreting plans and specifications, measuring and calculating quantities, and performing quality control testing on highway materials.
  • An Associate Degree in Engineering may substitute for one (1) year of experience.
  • Ability to engage multiple perspectives when solving problems, learn from peers, and promote reciprocal learning within the team.
  • Previous experience working on PennDOT or Pennsylvania projects is preferred.
  • Certifications such as ACI Field Technician, PennDOT Concrete Technician, NECEPT Field Technician (Concrete or Asphalt), NICET Certification in Heavy Highway Construction, and CDS Certifications are desirable.
