Job summary

GFT is seeking a Transportation Area Manager to lead a defined Mid-West region, owning strategy, growth, and P&L. You will drive profitable project delivery by shaping the area’s business plan, managing client relationships, and aligning with regional and enterprise priorities.

The role demands strong leadership, financial acumen, and the ability to coordinate across Regions, Practices, and Growth Office to maximize opportunities and ensure successful, high-quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, planning, architecture or related field.
• Professional licensure or certification where required by jurisdiction.
• 15+ years in transportation consulting, design planning, program management, or related field.
• At least 5 years leading staff and managers.
• Proven track record in P&L, client relationships, business development, and delivering large infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the Area business plan and growth strategy.
• Own the area pipeline, forecast, and opportunities from lead to project start.
• Lead go/no-go decisions, teaming, capture plans, and pricing inputs within authority.
• Build trusted relationships with priority clients and partners; serve as CSL or pursuit leader.
• Monitor market trends, funding, and competitors; translate insight into growth actions.
• Collaborate across Regions and Practices to cross-sell services and pursue opportunities.
