Job summary

Albany Medical College is seeking a board-certified or -eligible Transplant Nephrologist to join its growing abdominal transplant program. This role blends transplant nephrology with general nephrology and offers a collaborative academic environment.

The successful candidate will participate in inpatient and outpatient transplant care, organ offer discussions, and program development, with teaching opportunities for residents and fellows within an expanding center.

Qualifications

• Fellowship training in Transplant Nephrology from an accredited program.
• MD/DO or equivalent with board certification or eligibility in Nephrology.
• Academic experience or interest sufficient for appointment at Assistant or Associate Professor level.
• Eligible for medical licensure in New York.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented approach to care.
• Commitment to education, quality improvement, and advancing transplant medicine.

Responsibilities

• Combine transplant nephrology with general nephrology in a balanced practice.
• Participate in inpatient transplant care and multidisciplinary rounds.
• Manage immunosuppression, graft function, and transplant-specific care.
• Share coverage of transplant-related inpatient consults and nephrology calls.
• Participate in outpatient transplant clinics: pre-transplant, living donor, and post-transplant care.
• Contribute to organ offer reviews and recipient selection discussions as volume grows.
• Engage in quality improvement and program development initiatives.
• Academic appointment with teaching and clinical collaboration opportunities.
