Job summary

Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago is seeking a transplant financial coordinator to verify patient insurance coverage for transplant evaluations and procedures, secure precertifications, and provide financial counseling to patients and families.

The role includes building financial profiles and presenting them at evaluation meetings. The position requires knowledge of insurance regulations, strong organizational and interpersonal skills, and at least 2 years in transplant

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred; high school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 2 years of transplant coordination or related experience.
• Knowledge of insurance regulations and medical terminology; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Researches and verifies insurance coverage and limitations for transplant referrals and evaluations.
• Submit and secure required insurance precertification authorizations for transplant episodes.
• Writes or obtains from physician a letter of medical necessity and tracks response with required documentation.
• Provides financial counseling on insurance coverage options to potential transplant candidates and patients.
• Develops and coordinates financial profile for patients with inadequate or no insurance; presents at meetings.
