Job summary

Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago seeks a Transplant Financial Coordinator to verify insurance coverage for transplant evaluations, obtain precertifications, and support families with financial counseling.

You will develop financial profiles for patients with limited coverage, coordinate evaluations, and assist with Medicare enrollment for kidney transplant recipients, while generating program reports on demand.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Experience in transplant coordination, utilization review, financial counseling or insurance reimbursement.
• Knowledge of insurance regulations and health care issues.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to interact with hospital staff, management and physicians.
• Compassionate, tactful interpersonal skills with patients and families.

Responsibilities

• Verify transplant insurance coverage and precertifications.
• Submit precertifications for transplant episodes and follow up on status.
• Provide financial counseling on insurance options, including COBRA, Medicaid and employer plans.
• Develop financial profiles for patients with inadequate or no insurance.
• Schedule multidisciplinary transplant evaluations.
• Prepare Medicare enrollment forms for kidney transplant recipients.
• Generate transplant program reports on request and maintain dashboards.
• Maintain records of patients' financial status and treatment stages.
