Job summary

The University of Virginia health system is seeking a dynamic transplant-focused registered nurse to join a multidisciplinary team. The role centers on relationship-based care, advanced critical thinking, and individualized planning to optimize patient outcomes across all transitions in transplant care.

Responsibilities include afterhours/weekend coverage, comprehensive telephone assessments, and coordinating complex care with the transplant team while educating patients and families about

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited program.
• Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in Virginia (RN).
• American Heart Association BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Provide afterhours/weekend coverage as primary point of contact for pre and post-transplant patients and providers.
• Conduct telephone assessments and coordinate complex care based on comprehensive evaluations.
• Educate patients/families about living donation options, evaluation process, and transplant phases.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary transplant team to ensure timely communication of decisions and patient response.
