Job summary

Duke Energy Corporation in Raleigh, NC, seeks an Engineer responsible for advancing transmission planning and reliability improvements. The role requires strong analytical skills and collaboration across departments, with hybrid work arrangements after onboarding.

Responsibilities include PSSE/TARA studies, model maintenance, regulatory representation, and coordination with developers for interconnection studies. A BS in Engineering (ABET) is required, with PE preferred or licensure considered.

Qualifications

• ABET‑accredited BS in Engineering or PE license.
• 4 years engineering work experience (without PE) or 5 years with PE.

Responsibilities

• Perform transmission planning studies using PSSE and TARA.
• Build and update models of the transmission system.
• Identify causes of criteria violations and propose efficient upgrades.
• Coordinate with internal departments to achieve planning goals.
• Represent Duke Energy in industry activities with regulatory groups (SERC, NERC).
• Coordinate with developers for interconnection studies and data.
