Job summary

GFT is seeking a Senior Transmission Line Engineer to join our Power Business Group and lead transmission line project designs across multiple sites, with a focus on reliability and efficiency in energy infrastructure.

You will work with clients and internal teams, applying NESC/IEEE/NEC standards and advanced software to deliver comprehensive design packages and cost estimates. The role supports professional growth and flexible arrangements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Electrical, or Structural Engineering.
• 3+ years of experience in transmission line design.
• Knowledge of NESC, IEEE, NEC.
• Proficient in PLS-CADD.
• Experience in utility consulting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design transmission line segments using PLS-CADD or other structural design software.
• Develop design criteria documents and construction specifications.
• Prepare construction packages with structure details, material lists, staking tables, plan and profiles, and stringing charts.
• Estimate project costs, resources, labor, and materials with realistic deadlines.
• Write, modify, and review specifications per NESC, IEEE, NEC, and industry best practices.
• Conduct feasibility and routing studies and EMF calculations for project planning.
• Oversee project implementation and verify foundations, structures, and equipment installation.
• Lead or assist with proposal preparation and business development.
• Travel to client sites for project definition and execution phases.
• Mentor and coach junior engineers and technicians.
