Job summary

Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group seeks an Engineering Intern to support its Transmission Line design team in San Diego. You will assist engineers and drafters on overhead line projects, applying basic engineering methods and industry software under supervision.

You will gain hands-on experience with traditional engineering methods and innovations while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and contributing to project deliverables.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a ABET-accredited bachelor's in Civil/Mechanical/Structural engineering.
• Coursework or familiarity with AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS or PLS-CADD.
• Basic understanding of design codes such as NESC/IEEE/ANSI/IBC.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers with overhead transmission line design, including PLS-CADD modeling, line routing and structure analysis.
• Support drafting and mapping using AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS, or similar software.
• Implement engineering redlines and ensure drawing accuracy.
• Perform basic engineering calculations under supervision, such as sag-tension analysis and pole loading checks.
• Help prepare documentation, reports and design packages for project deliverables.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to refine engineering solutions.
• Participate in design reviews, field data collection and technical meetings.
• Maintain organized records of design data, drawings and project notes.
• Work approximately 40 hours per week during the internship period.
