Job summary

Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group in Portland, Oregon is seeking a Design Engineer - Transmission Line to design, build, maintain and upgrade high-voltage transmission facilities. You’ll perform engineering tasks, model with PLS-CADD, route lines, analyze structures, and ensure safety, quality and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities include leveraging AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS; applying codes like NESC/IEEE/ANSI/IBC; producing drafting redlines, and collaborating with project teams.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited civil/structural engineering degree.
• 2+ years in routing and design of high voltage overhead transmission line facilities.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS or similar CAD tools.
• Experience with PLS-POLE, TOWER, SAG10, LPILE, MFAD preferred.
• Knowledge of NESC, IEEE, ANSI, IBC design codes.
• Strong drafting and design principles; ability to travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Perform, lead, and oversee engineering responsibilities for overhead transmission line design.
• Model with PLS-CADD, routing, structure analysis and loading trees.
• Develop design criteria, sag-tension calculations, wire blowout, swing angle, damper.
• Use AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS for scaled drawings and mapping.
• Implement redlines; ensure accuracy before finalizing drafting.
• Prepare joint utility use authorizations from field data and redlines.
• Maintain project documentation and support engineering calculations.
• Collaborate with engineers and project teams to develop solutions.
• Work 40 hours/week, up to 50 with occasional overtime.
