Job summary

Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group seeks a Design Engineer - Transmission Line to design, build, maintain, and upgrade high-voltage transmission infrastructure. You will perform PLS-CADD modeling, routing, and structure analysis while ensuring safety and quality across projects.

You will use AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS, and other CAD tools, implement precise redlines, and conduct calculations for voltage drop and pole loading. Some travel is required, up to 10%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 2+ years of experience with routing and design of high voltage overhead transmission line facilities.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS, or similar CAD tools.
• Experience with power distribution engineering software (PLS-POLE, TOWER, SAG10, LPILE preferred).
• Understanding of design codes and standards such as NESC, IEEE, ANSI, IBC.
• Strong knowledge of engineering drafting and design principles.
• Ability to travel as necessary, up to 10% of the time

Responsibilities

• Perform, lead, and oversee all engineering responsibilities related to overhead transmission line design, incl. PLS-CADD modeling and line routing.
• Utilize AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS for scaled drawings and mapping.
• Implement engineering redlines with precision before finalizing drawings.
• Conduct engineering calculations including voltage drop and pole loading assessments.
• Prepare joint utility use authorizations based on field data and engineer redlines.
• Ensure compliance with local regulations and standards (NESC/IEEE/ANSI/IBC).
• Maintain detailed project documentation and support engineering calculations.
• Work a minimum of 40 hours per week with potential up to 50 hours and overtime.
