Job summary

WSP seeks an Intermediate Transmission Line Design Engineer to support major utility projects from our Rochester/Binghamton/Buffalo client sites. You will lead design efforts, review plans, and ensure code compliance while coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.

This on-site role requires 1+ year post-education experience in transmission line design (up to 115 kV). Proficiency in PLS-CADD, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and related tools is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or closely related field.
• 1+ years of post-education experience, preferably in transmission line design up to 115 kV HVAC.
• Knowledge of NESC, AISC, IEEE and ANSI.
• Experience with PLS-CADD, MFAD, HFAD, LPILE, AutoCAD, and MicroStation; PSCAD is a plus.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to coordinate with multiple disciplines and lead teams.

Responsibilities

• Review/design transmission line plan and profile drawings using PLS-CADD to ensure compliance with standards.
• Provide structure recommendations and line design details.
• Lead transmission line design for capital projects.
• Drive routing strategy and right-of-way decisions.
• Offer technical consultation to project teams.
• Develop QA/QC procedures and templates.
• Review construction documents (plans, profiles, BOMs).
• Interpret geotechnical data for foundation design.
