Job summary

WSP USA is seeking an Intermediate Transmission Line Design Engineer to support major utility and energy clients on high-impact power and infrastructure projects. You will help lead transmission line design efforts and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver constructible solutions that meet critical energy needs.

This role is fully in-office at client sites in Rochester, NY, Buffalo, NY or Binghamton, NY, and candidates must be able to work on-site daily.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or closely related field.
• 1+ years post-education experience in transmission line design up to 115 kV.
• Knowledge of NESC, AISC, IEEE and ANSI.
• Experience with PLS-CADD, AutoCAD, MicroStation; PSCAD a plus.
• Strong communication and teamwork.
• Ability to work on-site full-time at NY client offices.

Responsibilities

• Review/Design transmission line plan and profile drawings using PLS-CADD to ensure compliance with Client Standards and NESC/other standards.
• Structure recommendations.
• Line design: Plans and Profiles, Cross section details.
• Lead transmission line design for capital projects.
• Drive routing and strategy, including ROW decisions based on area congestion and permitting issues.
• Coordinate interfaces with other engineering disciplines.
