Job summary
Quanta Services' QISG division is seeking a Design Engineer - Transmission Line to design, build, maintain and upgrade high‑voltage transmission infrastructure across diverse projects. You will perform routing, structure analysis, sag‑tension calculations and create scaled drawings using CAD tools, delivering safe, reliable, and cost‑effective solutions.
The role requires a Civil/Structural Engineering degree (ABET‑accredited) and 2+ years of HV experience, proficiency with
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering (ABET-accredited).
- 2+ years’ experience in routing and design of HV overhead transmission lines.
- Proficient with AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS.
- Experience with PLS-POLE, TOWER, SAG10, LPILE, MFAD.
- Knowledge of NESC, IEEE, ANSI, IBC design codes.
- Willingness to travel up to 10%.
Responsibilities
- Lead overhead transmission line design, including routing and structure analysis.
- Perform PLS-CADD modeling and loading analyses.
- Produce scaled drawings with AutoCAD/MicroStation/ArcGIS.
- Apply engineering redlines and ensure drafting accuracy.
- Carry out voltage drop and pole loading assessments.
- Prepare joint-use authorizations from field data.
- Maintain project documentation and calculations.
- Collaborate with engineers and project teams; ensure code compliance.
- Work 40+ hours weekly with potential overtime.
