Job summary
Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group in San Diego, CA is seeking a Design Engineer I to support overhead transmission line design, including modeling, routing, structure analysis and loading trees. You will use CAD tools and engineering calculations to help deliver safe, reliable high‑voltage infrastructure projects.
The role requires a ABET‑accredited degree in Civil/Structural or Mechanical Engineering, willingness to travel up to 10%, and commitment to rigorous safety and quality standards
Qualifications
- ABET-accredited Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural or Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, and ArcGIS.
- Knowledge of design codes such as NESC, IEEE, ANSI, and IBC.
Responsibilities
- Support overhead transmission line design tasks with CAD tooling.
- Use AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS for scaled drawings.
- Apply engineering redlines with precision before drafting.
- Perform calculations: voltage drop, pole loading, flicker.
- Prepare joint use authorizations from field data.
- Ensure compliance with NESC, IEEE, ANSI, IBC and standards.
- Collaborate with engineers to develop solutions.
- Maintain detailed project documentation.
- Work 40 hours/week, up to 50 with overtime.
