Job summary

National Grid is hiring an Operator for the Transmission Control Center in Northborough, MA. You will be responsible for real-time analysis, monitoring, control, and emergency response to ensure safe, secure, and reliable operation of the New England transmission system.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in engineering, NERC certification or progress toward it, and the ability to work rotating shifts. It involves coordinating outages and maintaining EMS health, with opportunities for

Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, another engineering discipline, or a related technical field is preferred.
Prior supervisory experience is preferred.
NERC Reliability Certification, or the ability to obtain it within 2 years, is required.
Must be on the Clearance and Control list, or able to obtain authorization within 2 months.
Ability to work rotating shifts is required.

Responsibilities

Provide real-time analysis, monitoring, control and emergency response for the transmission system.
Switching and tagging activities associated with planned, forced, and emergency outages.
Coordinate planned, forced, and emergency outages with applicable entities.
Operate transmission system equipment within established ratings.
Implementation of ISO-NE and National Grid Emergency procedures.
Monitor the health and accuracy of the EMS system.
Represent the New England Control Center on ISO-NE and company level committees.
Maintain close working relationships with EMS staff and neighboring utilities.
