Job summary

Avista Corporation seeks an experienced operator to ensure the safe and reliable operation of the bulk electric system under normal, emergency, and black start conditions. You will support transmission desk activities, monitor E-tags and schedules, and ensure reserves are maintained.

This role requires NERC certification, rotating shifts, and strong decision-making under pressure. The position emphasizes safety, reliability, and timely responses, with a union-driven wage structure and benefits

Qualifications

• Requires knowledge or experience in basic and advanced electricity, print reading, and utility power generation, transmission, distribution system operation.
• Minimum 3+ years of related work experience and ability to work with little supervision.
• Leads with quality leadership, instant decision making, and ability to perform under stress for extended periods.
• Must respond quickly with good judgment under stressful situations.
• Demonstrated effective and flexible communication skills.
• Basic math skills required; algebra level preferred.
• Knowledge of generation and transmission required.
• Requires obtaining and maintaining NERC system operator certification; rotating shifts.
