Job summary

PPL Corporation seeks an Application Support Engineer to help ensure safe, reliable operation of transmission and distribution grids in Pennsylvania and Rhode Island. You will support EMS/ADMS, translate control-center needs into software requirements, and improve control‑room operations through system monitoring and optimization.

The role requires an ABET-accredited engineering degree with progressive engineering experience and preferred familiarity with GE AEMS/ADMS and NERC CIP standards.

Qualifications

  • ABET-accredited bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology.
  • Level II requires 2+ years of engineering experience; utility operator experience counts as engineering.
  • Level III requires 5+ years in engineering or a master’s plus 3 years of engineering experience, or a PhD plus 2 years; utility operator experience counts.
  • Principal level requires 10+ years in engineering or a master’s plus 8 years; PhD plus 7 years.
  • Preferred qualifications include experience with GE AEMS or ADMS and knowledge of NERC CIP, IRO, COM, EOP and TOP standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in smaller engineering projects or well-defined parts of larger projects.
  • Translate operational needs of control centers into technical requirements for supported applications.
  • Optimize operation of EMS and related systems through monitoring performance and updating databases.
  • Stay current with transmission and distribution tech and standards.
