The University of Georgia is seeking a skilled Transit Technician II in Athens, Georgia. This role involves troubleshooting and repairing fleet vehicles, performing maintenance in accordance with industry standards, and complying with drug and alcohol testing regulations.
Qualified applicants will demonstrate technical knowledge in heavy-duty diesel vehicle maintenance and will be capable of complex troubleshooting. The position offers the opportunity to work in a supportive team environment with a strong commitment to safety.
Department: Auxiliary Transit Maint
Position Summary: Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair defects on fleet vehicles. Perform maintenance on transit buses and other fleet vehicles in accordance with industry standards, safe practices and manufacturer’s specifications. Applicants submit to drug and alcohol testing by the US Department of Transportation.
Requires technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, formal training programs, or on-the-job training. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.
Demonstrated ability to maintain heavy‑du‑re diesel vehicles, troubleshoot and repair complex systems such as electrical and electronics systems, climate control systems, diesel engines and transmissions. Ability to use computers for diagnosis, parts look‑ups and other tasks.
Heavy lifting, work in confined spaces, stooping, kneeling, standing on ladders and work platforms. Driving.
