Job summary

The University of Georgia in Athens is seeking a Bus Operations Supervisor to oversee the daily campus transit system, supervise bus operators, and ensure safe, efficient operations. The role may require driving routes and special charters and includes payroll-related duties and back-up dispatcher support.

Evening and weekend hours may be needed. Applicants must hold a Class B CDL with passenger endorsement and have strong communication and customer service skills.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of related experience preferred.
  • CDL with passenger endorsement required and must be maintained.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee fixed-route operations and monitor operations via AVL software and radios.
  • Provide supervision and guidance to bus operators and address daily operational needs.
  • Perform payroll review/approval and provide back-up support for the Dispatcher in their absence.
  • Drive buses on fixed routes and charters as needed.
  • Coordinate with UGAPD/ACCPD and other departments during emergencies or incidents.

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for providing supervision for the daily operation of the campus transit system. This work involves both direct and indirect oversight of bus operators on routes and during pre/post trip inspections. This position gives support to drivers by communicating and providing guidance to address the needs of bus operators. In addition, this position is also responsible for performing administrative task to include payroll review/approval and providing back-up support for the Transit Dispatcher in their absence. On occasion, this position may operate buses on routes and special charters. Applicants submit to drug and alcohol testing by the US Department of Transportation.

  • Class B CDL with passenger endorsement.

  • Knowledge of the University campus and familiarity with public transportation.
  • Customer service oriented.

  • Oversee fixed-route operations. Monitor operations via vehicle location software, two-way radio and visual observation. Respond to emergencies and vehicle breakdowns. Communicate with supporting departments such as UGAPD and ACCPD as situations arise. Help to ensure facility is safe and secure.
