Job summary

SFMTA, San Francisco, seeks a Project Manager I to oversee the surface level integration of the new CBTC system with existing traffic signal infrastructure. You will coordinate systems engineering, ensure compatible functionality, and work with staff and consultants to deliver timely transit improvements.

The role requires in-depth knowledge of traffic signal systems and ITS, including MUTCD, FHWA/FTA standards, and experience integrating ITS devices with D4 controller software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in architecture, engineering or planning with four years of related experience
• Bachelor's Degree in another field with six years of related experience
• Eight years of related architectural/engineering/construction management experience
• California registration as professional engineer or architect

Responsibilities

• Oversee internal staff and consultants to develop protocols and procedures to integrate CBTC technology with existing traffic signal infrastructure
• Develop calculations for traffic signal timing card changes to reduce transit travel times and improve transit reliability
• Provide direction to staff in the preparation of studies, calculations, designs, drawings, sketches, and plans using AutoCAD, Synchro, VISSIM
• Provide written and oral responses to inquiries from other agencies, contractors, and the public
• Performs other related duties as assigned
