Job summary

GFT seeks a Senior Project Manager, Traffic Engineer to lead complex traffic and ITS projects. You will guide a distributed team, engage clients, and coordinate across highway and urban networks to deliver safe, efficient transportation solutions.

The role requires deep experience in traffic operations, signal systems, ITS, and strong leadership. Hybrid work is offered across multiple U.S. offices, with focus on delivering high-quality project outcomes.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited B.S. in Civil Engineering required.
• Minimum 15 years' professional experience in traffic and/or highway engineering.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in KS or MO; ability to obtain licensure in other Midwest states.
• Experience with KDOT, MoDOT, and local transportation agencies.
• Knowledge of MUTCD and Highway Capacity Manual; traffic analysis experience.
• Experience with traffic simulation software (e.g., Synchro, HCS, Sidra, VISSIM).
• Proficiency in MicroStation/OpenRoads and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, design, and delivery of complex traffic signal and ITS projects across urban networks.
• Plan traffic analyses and studies, including safety and operations reviews.
• Grow and manage a geographically distributed traffic group and mentor engineers.
• Support project proposals, client engagement, and cross-disciplinary coordination.
