Job summary

Wabtec, located in Greenville, SC, is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to lead design, development and industrialization of new products for transit systems. You will conduct 3D modeling, FEA/FEA analysis, GD&T reviews and prototype testing to ensure manufacturability and reliability.

The role requires a Bachelor's in mechanical engineering, at least 3 years of design experience, familiarity with SolidWorks/ANSYS, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field required.
• 3 years of mechanical design experience.
• Proven track record of new product designs manufactured reliably and cost-effectively.
• Understanding of FEA and FMEA.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes as they relate to engineering design.
• Experience with sheet metal and cast components.
• Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks a plus).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Familiar with general manufacturing, machining, fabrication, welding, and finishing practices.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments with high attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and development of new products, equipment, and systems, including Proto-Typing and testing.
• 3D solid modeling and 2D drafting using SolidWorks; drafting drawings and BOMs.
• Perform mechanical/structural analysis (FEA) and GD&T reviews.
• Evaluate materials and manufacturing methods for new and existing products.
• Build and test prototypes; develop test plans and reports.
• Support manufacturing in industrialization of new products and equipment.
